About the project
In response to safety concerns raised by the community, Auckland Transport is proposing to install flexi-posts on the flush median on Fred Taylor Drive in Whenuapai.
During peak hours, motorists are driving on the flush median and using it as an informal second traffic lane. This presents a safety hazard for vehicles entering the flush median and turning in or out of adjacent driveways. Physical barriers are proposed to deter the illegal issue of the flush median.
The changes we're making by November 2026
- Install flexi-posts on the flush median outside #159,192,151,149,184,180 Fred Taylor Drive.

What happens next
- In good weather conditions it will take us one day to install the flexi-posts.
