About the project

As part of the road safety programme, Auckland Transport is proposing installing a right turn bay on Parrs Cross Road at the intersection with Legacy Drive.

This new right turn bay will provide a safe area for vehicles to wait before making a right turn into Legacy Drive, helping to reduce the risk of crashes and improve overall safety of this intersection.

The changes we're making by July 2026

  • Installing a new right turn bay at the intersection to separate turning traffic from through traffic, reducing the risk of rear end crashes.
  • Realign and install new edge lines, no passing lines and broken yellow lines to accommodate the new right turn bay.
  • Trim trees near the intersection to improve westbound traffic.
  • Reviewing lighting and consider installing additional street lighting at the intersection to improve night-time visibility.


Benefits to your community

  • Improves safety and visibility in and out of Parrs Cross Road and Legacy Drive.
  • Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling and crossing the road, making it safer, particularly for tamariki (children).
  • Improves safe traffic flow by keeping the straight-ahead westbound land on Parrs Cross Road clear of turning traffic, particularly during peak hours in the morning and afternoons.

  • We will be in touch with residents before any construction takes place.
