About the project

We're responding to concerns raised by the community that it's hard to see oncoming traffic when turning left from Nigel Road (south side) into Arran Road.

Cars parked along the eastern side of Arran Road block visibility, making it unsafe for drivers exiting Nigel Road t(south side) to see oncoming traffic.

To make this intersection safer for everyone, we’re making some changes.

The changes we're making by February 2026

  • Installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) around the corner of Arran Road and outside #12 Nigel Road, Browns Bay.
  • To clear access and improve visibility for these changes, we need to reallocate road space as follows
    • Removing 3 parking spaces on the eastern side of Arran Road near the intersection.
    • Remove 1 parking space on the western side of Nigel Road.
    • This will make it easier for drivers to see when turning the sharp corner, making the intersection safer for both vehicles and people walking.

Benefits to your community

  • Makes it easier and safer for drivers to tourn left from Nigel Road onto Arran Road.
  • Improves visibility and reduces the risk of crashers.
  • Supports safer access for residents and people driving through the area.

What happens next

  • Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
  • It will take one day to paint the road marking in good weather conditions.
  • We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will tried to minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.
  • Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
