About the project

In response to requests from the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board, we are making changes to enhance safety and visibility at the curved section of Hart Road and the intersection with Francis Street in Hauraki.

Cars parked along the curve outside #48 Hart Road obstruct the visibility of approaching motorists.

At the intersection, parked vehicles also pose a danger as they block visibility for motorists, people walking and cycling.

The changes we're making by December 2025

  • Paint no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) at the corner of Hart Road and Francis Street
  • Paint no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) at the bend outside #48 Hart Road

Benefits to your community

  • Clears congestion and ensures access for motorists entering or exiting Hart Road.
  • Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling and crossing the road
  • Enables accessibility for emergency and large vehicles including rubbish trucks and recycling

In good weather conditions, it will take one day to paint the broken yellow lines. We know this may cause an inconvenience, and we’ve tried to minimise this as much as possible.

We remind all drivers to park correctly and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.

What happens next

  • Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
