About the project
We’re responding to a request from the Ahuroa Community, we are making changes to enhance safety and visibility outside the Puhoi Fire Station at 52 Ahuroa Road.
Puhoi Fire station is on Ahuroa Road and is in a 80km/hr zone. Outside the station is an open area that is frequently used by the public for parking. This creates visibility issues when the emergency vehicles are leaving the station, this risk is elevated when they are responding to an emergency and there is a urgency in the response time.
The changes we're making by April 2026
Paint no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) outside 52 Ahuroa Road.
Benefits to your community
Improves visibility for emergency service drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling and crossing the road.
Improves access for all vehicles including fire trucks to safely enter and exit the station.
What happens next
We will be in touch with local residents and businesses prior to any work taking place.
Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
It will take one day to paint the road marking in good weather conditions.
We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.
Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
How to contact us
If you'd like to discuss our plans, share what you know about your area or let us know if there's anything we've missed, email us at ATEngagement@at.govt.nz or leave us a comment on our website by 22 October 2025.
Please mention 52 Ahuroa Road, Puhoi in the subject line.
