About the project
We’re responding to requests from the community and residents to improve access in Valley Road in Northcote.
Valley Road is a narrow street. When cars park on both sides of the road, it blocks driveways and makes it difficult for residents, rubbish trucks, and emergency vehicles to get through.
To make the street safer and easier to use, we’re changing parking to one side of the road only.
The changes we're making by February 2026
Installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) between 8 and 12 Valley Road and 14 and 16 Valley Road including on the eastern side opposite 12 to 14 Valley Road.
Benefits to your community
Easier for residents to get in and out of the street, use their driveways and access their homes.
Clears access for emergency service and large vehicles such as rubbish trucks.
Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling and crossing the road - making the street safer for everyone.
What happens next
Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
It will take one day to paint the road marking in good weather conditions.
We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.
Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
How to contact us
