About the project
We're responding to requests from the community and residents to improve access and safety on The Close, Greenhithe.
The Close is a narrow cul-de-sac street. It makes it difficult for vehicles to manoeuvre within the turning area when cars are parked around the cul-de-sac.
To make the street safer and easier to use, we need to make some changes to keep driveways clear and improves access, manoeuvrability and safety for everyone.
The changes we're making by February 2026
Installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) between 13 and 24 The Close, around the head of the cul-de-sac, to keep the road clear for vehicles to move safely.
Benefits to your community
Easier access for residents to access their homes.
Clears access for emergency services and large vehicles such as rubbish trucks.
Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling and crossing the road, making the street safer for everyone.
What happens next
Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
It will take one day to paint the road marking in good weather conditions.
We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will tried to minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.
Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
How to contact us
If you'd like to discuss our plans, share what you know about your area or let us know if there is anything we have missed, email us at ATEngagement@at.govt.nz or leave us a comment on our website by 18 December 2025.
