About the project

We’re responding to requests from the community to increase safety and visibility for people crossing the road to the park on Ringi Lane, Orewa. To improve safety and make this part of Ringi Lane safer for everyone to use, we are proposing some changes.

Following consultation and careful consideration of the feedback received regarding parking demand, we have reduced the proposed restrictions from approximately 21 metres to 7 metres in total, comprising 3 metres across the crossing and 2 metres on either side. This reduction is considered to maintain the necessary visibility at the crossing, given the low-speed, low-traffic environment, while minimising the impact on on-street parking.

The changes we're proposing

  • Installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) near the pram crossing at 16 Ringi Lane.

What happens next

  • Following community engagement, we will be apply for a legal resolution to support these parking changes.
  • Following approval, we expect to implement the changes in September 2026.
