About the project

We're responding to requests from the community to further improve access on Bowman Road in Forrest Hill by implementing more parking restrictions between 9 to 11 Bowman Road.

Bowman Road is a narrow cul-de-sac. When cars park on both sides of the road especially at the end, it makes it hard for residents, emergency services and rubbish trucks to get through. It can also block driveways.

To keep driveways clear and make sure everyone can safely get in and out of the street, we need to make some changes.

The changes we're making by September 2025

  • Installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) from #9 to #11 Bowman Road.

Benefits to your community

  • Safer and easier access for residents to use their driveways and access to their properties.
  • Clears access for emergency services and large vehicles such as rubbish trucks.
  • Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling and crossing the road, making the street safer for everyone.

What happens next

  • Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
  • It will take one day to paint the road marking in good weather conditions.
  • We know this may cause some inconvenience, and we will tried to minimise this as much as possible while balancing safety concerns.
  • Please remember to park courteously and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.

How to contact us

If you'd like to discuss our plans, share what you know about your area or let us know if there's anything we've missed, email us at ATEngagement@at.govt.nz or leave us a comment on our website by 7 October 2025.
