About the project
Auckland Transport is delivering cycling upgrades on Ian McKinnon Drive - Eden Terrace
The new upgrades will make it easier and safer for everyone moving around on their bike, whether they’re going to the shops, work, school or visiting friends and whānau.
Proposed changes
The changes involve upgrading and widening the existing shared footpath, reducing the size of the existing pedestrian island, and adding new line marking.
The goal of this project is to create a seamless connection between the Northwestern path/Newton Road and the recently installed pop-up cycle lanes on Ian McKinnon Drive. This connection aims to enhance the cycling infrastructure and promote safer and more efficient cycling routes.
Provide dedicated spaces for people to cycle on the road.
Support a healthier, cheaper, and more sustainable way to move around.
Make it safer for children cycling to and from school.
Improving the cycling experience around Auckland.
What happens next
We plan to implement these changes by July 2025. To minimise impact on the community, we will be in touch with local residents and businesses prior to any construction taking place.
Any change to the plan will be updated on this page.
