Project Outcome
We would like to thank everyone for their feedback on the proposal. A workshop was held with the Puketāpapa Local Board in February 2026.Following this workshop and after carefully reviewing the public feedback. We will be proceeding with this proposal with additional changes noted below:

To address concerns from local businesses and the community about the removal of five on‑street parking spaces required to deliver the proposed mid‑block pedestrian crossing near 948 Dominion Road, we are planning to construct eight additional parking spaces on Hazel Avenue.

We expect to have these changes implemented by 2026.
We'll be in touch with residents and businesses in the affected work areas before construction begins.

Auckland Transport, in partnership with the Puketāpapa Local Board, is making it safer to cross at 948 Dominion Road, Mt Roskill.

What’s being proposed:

  • New pedestrian push-button signals that are activated only when someone is waiting to cross
  • Relocated bus stops and shelters for better access and comfort
  • Safer crossing with minimal traffic disruption
  • Six off-peak parking spaces will be removed to accommodate the change

Why 948 Dominion Road?

After looking at a few different locations and checking how many people walk in the area, 948 Dominion Road was chosen because lots of people use the buses and visit shops there. To accommodate these changes we are reprioritising six off-peak parking spaces.

Benefits to the community

  • Easier access for bus riders and sheltered from the weather
  • Traffic lights activated only when needed

What happens next

The survey has now been closed, and we are reviewing the feedback.

We'll post the outcome of this proposal and a summary of community feedback on our website.

Any change to the plan will be updated on our website.
