Great South Road, Papatoetoe - P60 Other Times
Consultation Outcome.
After reviewing the feedback we received, we are proceeding with our proposal to implement P60 parking time restrictions other times on 91-121 Great South Road, Papatoetoe.
What happens next
We anticipate these changes will be installed between August and September 2024. We'll be in touch with local residents and businesses before any changes take place.
Community Feedback
Thank you for helping us make better decisions for your neighbourhood, informed by your local knowledge.
Community Concern
Concerned that the proposed changes may lead to increased congestion on this major north-south road, similar to how a single vehicle attempting parallel parking can cause delays.
Adding time restrictions to these parking spaces will not cause further delays or congestion.
Currently, drivers are allowed to park here except during the peak hours in the mornings and afternoons (mornings 7am to 9am & afternoons 4pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday). No stopping restrictions during the peak hours help manage smooth traffic flow through the area during busy times.
Once we implement the changes, people will still be able to park here, but only for 60 minutes (P60), to encourage parking turnover. Once again, the same peak hour restrictions will apply.
About the project
We’ve received requests for help from local businesses concerning parking availability from 91-121 Great South Road, Papatoetoe, due to the high demand for parking in the Hunters Corner Town Centre.
What’s currently in place
- No stopping parking restriction applies between 7am-9am and 4pm-6pm, Monday to Friday.
- Outside these times, this space is occupied by long term parkers, making it difficult for customers to find a place to park when visiting the nearby businesses during the day.
What we are proposing
Great South Road - Proposal Picture
We’re making it easier to enjoy your local shops in Hunters Corner
- Time limits of 60 minutes (P60 restriction) will apply between 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday. A permit scheme would not apply to the proposed restriction. The current no stopping restrictions between 7am-9am and 4pm-6pm, Monday to Friday will remain unchanged.
Benefits and impacts of the proposal
- Makes it easier for you to find short term parking for local businesses.
- Ensures fairness with the high demand in this area.
- Still gives parking availability after 6pm until 7am during weekdays and no restrictions on weekends.
These proposed changes will not result in any carpark losses.
What we want your feedback on
We are seeking feedback from nearby businesses on whether P60 is long enough or too short.
