We have received a request from the Piha Residents Association to address concerns of speeding vehicles on Glenesk Road, to improve the safety of pedestrians and other road users.

Why are the changes needed?

Glenesk Rd is a narrow local road with swale drains and narrow berms with no footpaths and as a result pedestrians use the roadway. Recent investigations show that speed is an issue possibly caused by visitors using Glenesk Road to access Kitekite Falls.

What we’re planning to do before June 2027

Here’s what we’re planning to do:

  • Install 7 low profile speed humps along the length of Glenesk Road
  • Install a small section of gravel footpath where the road narrows outside 18-24 Glenesk Road

There will be no loss of parking from these upgrades. You can view the attached plan to see exactly where the changes will happen.

How this will benefit your neighbourhood

These improvements will slow vehicle speeds and create a safer environment for pedestrians.

Share your thoughts up until Thursday 4 May 2026.
