About the project

We’re planning to upgrade the local walking facilities at Finn Place & Waipuna Road.

This project was initiated in response to feedback from residents and businesses about safety and connectivity concerns related to lack of formal footpath in the area.

The project proposes installing new footpath and a new root bridge along the western side of the Finn Place and the northern side of Waipuna Road, a new pram crossing with tactile paver at the intersection of Finn Place and Waipuna Road East, extending the no parking line, reconstructing the grass berm and relocating the signs to improve safety and accessibility. In result, a total of 2 parking will be removed.

What we’re planning to do before June 2026

  • Construct a new concrete footpath on Finn Place to provide a safe walking route separated from traffic.

  • Construct a new tree root bridge on Finn Place to separate the footpath and the tree to protect the tree root beside 12 Finn Place.

  • Install a new pram crossing with tactile pavers at the intersection of Finn Place/Waipuna Road East to improve accessibility for all users.

  • Relocate street signs with the new pram crossing.

  • Apply new "no parking" yellow lines near the Finn Place/Waipuna Road East intersection.

  • Reconstruct vehicle crossings/driveways to match the new footpath levels at 2-8 Finn Place and 10-12 Finn Place.

  • A total of 2 parking will be removed.

You can view the proposed changes below. For a more detailed plan, please see the plan in the side bar.

How this will benefit your neighbourhood

These upgrades will make Finn Place and Waipuna Road safer and more convenient for everyone—whether you’re walking or driving through the area.

  • Provides a designated walking space for pedestrians so people no longer need to walk on the road or uneven grass berms.

  • Creates safer and more direct connections between local streets, businesses, and shops, helping to make the area more walkable and connected.
