Update:
In July 2024, Auckland Transport started the operation of the bus route 888 that linked your neighbourhood to Albany Village and Albany Bus Station.
As part of the new bus route, we told the community that we will be installing “no stopping at all times” (broken yellow lines) along Fairview Avenue and Para Close, as part of the safety improvements needed for the new 888 bus route.
We originally planned to do this work in July 2024, but we had some delays to adapt to new guidelines that came out this year for the resolution process for broken yellow lines.
Now, we planned this work in February- March 2025
If you’d like to speak to someone about our plans, please get in touch as soon as you can by emailing us at ATengagement@at.govt.nz
Project background
Fairview Heights Community has raised safety concerns regarding the Fairview Ave and Para Close intersection.
Having cars parked on both corners of Para Close and directly across the exit point, presents a danger to drivers and other road users. It presents safety risks for vehicles coming around the corner and anyone crossing the road as well as access issues for residents and emergency services.
What we're proposing
No stopping at all times at the intersection of Fairview Ave and Para Close as per the drawings attached which will be approximately 70 meters (broken yellow lines).
How this will address safety concerns
Gives better visibility and ensures motorists have a safe and unblocked view when using the intersection to exit Para Close onto Fairview Avenue
Clears access for emergency services to get through and makes it safer and easier for people crossing the road to be seen.
Proposal Outcome
After reviewing all of the feedback we received, this project will proceed without changes.
