Making it easier and safer for people to cross and turn at Ellerslie Panmure Hwy and Harrison Road Intersection.

Project outcome

Thank you to everyone who shared feedback on this project. Public engagement took place from 13 March to 27 March 2026.

After receiving the feedback, we are proceeding with the following changes to the design:

• Retaining Bus Stop 8514 on Ellerslie Panmure Highway

We anticipate these changes will be constructed in June 2026. We'll be in touch with local residents before any changes take place.

We’re getting in touch to let you know about the planned new signalised crossings at the Ellerslie-Panmure Highway/Harrison Road intersection, Mt Wellington.

Why are the changes needed?

This project was initiated in response to feedback from Summerset Retirement Village and nearby businesses. Concerns were raised about pedestrian safety, particularly the lack of a formal pedestrian crossing, as well as the difficulty and safety risks with right turn movements from Harrison Road.

In response, we propose to construct two new signalised pedestrian crossings and one new unsignalised crossing, along with associated road layout changes, to improve safety and connectivity in the area.
