UPDATE
There is a Fire Hydrant on the roadway and considering the parking utilisation at this location, AT recommends to prohibit parking in this space which will result in loss of one parking space compared to the initial drawing.
About the project
We’ve had feedback from the community about drivers illegally parking on the footpath and blocking pedestrian access. AT looked into this and found that cars are meant to park parallel to the kerb. However, because of the road width, layout, and parking demand, it was suggested to switch to angle parking. Wheel stops will be added to stop parking on the footpath.
This project is supported by the Puketāpapa Local Board.
The changes we’re making
We are formalising angle parking with wheel stops
Five parking spaces outside #39 Dornwell Road.
Six parking spaces outside #41-43 Dornwell Road.
Six parking spaces on the Dornwell Road side of Hsiu Yuan Dine in & Takeaway.
The drawing shows where we’ll be working.
Benefits to your community:
Formalising angle parking will keep enough parking spaces to meet community needs, and installing wheel stops will make sure there’s safe space for pedestrians to walk on the footpath.
What happens next
We will install these changes in February 2026.
Any change to the plan will be updated on this page.
