About the project
Due to the growing public transport network and an increase in bus frequency, we have identified that there is a need for more bus driver break stops in this area of Māngere. In 2025, we are proposing to install a bus break stop on Court Town Close, near the entrance to David Lange Park.
The changes we’re making
• Painting no stopping at all times lines (broken yellow lines) outside property #6 Court Town Close, by the entrance to David Lange Park
• Installing bus break stops that will allow for up to two buses to park
Please refer to the drawing below to see where the restrictions apply
Changes made to the Employment Relations Amendment Act 2018 (ERAA) entitles bus drivers to a 10-minute break during typical driving shifts. In order to maintain efficient operation and keep to the planned timetables, drivers are required to take meal breaks at the busy interchanges, away from their respective depots. Under the ERAA, bus drivers must be provided with access to facilities to attend to their personal needs. Drivers who are more rested are more attentive, promoting safer driving practices.
