About the Project

As part of our Road Safety Programme, we’re planning safety improvements at the intersection of Clark Road and Squadron Drive in Hobsonville. This is a busy intersection with a history of turning‑related crashes, limited safe crossing options, and a strong call from the community for better safety.

Our improvements aim to make walking, cycling and driving safer, helping everyone get where they need to go, and home again, safely.

The changes we're making include:

  • Installing a fully mountable roundabout with traffic islands to slow vehicle speeds and improve safety.
  • Adding new zebra crossings on all approaches, including pram ramps and tactile pavers, to create safer and more accessible crossing points.
  • Building new cycle ramps with green surfacing to support safer navigation for people on bikes.
  • Realigning kerbs so they tie in smoothly with the upgraded pedestrian and cycling connections.
  • Upgrading or relocating street lighting to improve visibility at the roundabout and crossings.
  • Trimming vegetation to improve sightlines.

This work is separate from the nearby Clark Road Shared Path Upgrade, which will further improve accessibility in the area.

The project drawing is available for download on the right side of this page.

Benefits to your community

Safer for everyone

The new roundabout design will help reduce the likelihood of crashes and near misses by slowing vehicles as they enter and move through the intersection.

Family‑friendly connections

Improved crossings, kerb and footpath upgrades, tactile paving, pram ramps, and green cycle ramps will make it safer and more comfortable for families, pedestrians and people on bikes.

What happens next

We will be in touch with residents, local organisations and businesses before works begin.
Any changes to the plan will be updated on our website.
