About the project

We’re responding to a request from the Warkworth One Mahurangi Business Association to change parking restrictions in the Warkworth Town Centre to P120.

We are looking for your views and feedback regarding longer parking time restrictions.

At the moment there are varied parking restrictions within the Warkworth Town Centre.

By making this change to an overall parking zone will make it easy for the public to understand and the entire town centre will be the same P120 (2 hour) restriction.

The short restrictions like P10 and Loading Zones will not change.

The times and days the restrictions apply will not change (8am-6pm, Monday to Sunday).

The changes we're making by September 2026

  • Remove existing P60 and P90, and P120 parking spaces with arrows.
  • Installing P120 zone parking signs at the entry and exit points to the zone and repeater signs within the Town Centre to indicate the restrictions.
  • Including the current unrestricted parking spaces in Mill Lane in the new P120 parking zone.

Benefits to your community

  • Move available parking spaces for those needing to stay up to 2 hours.

What happens next

Public engagement for these changes closed on 13 May 2026.

We have reviewed comments received from the community, and responses to submissions are provided by the project team in the Public Feedback report, available to download on this page.

We received 103 submissions during the feedback period, 78 submissions in support of the changes and 23 submissions suggesting changes or requesting further information.

The public engagement feedback has indicated the community are largely supportive of the proposed changes. We are planning implement the changes as proposed. Changes to parking restrictions will go through a legal resolution process before the changes are implemented.

Once all the processes have been approved it will take one to two weeks to change all the signs. This is likely to be in August or September.
