Local residents and the Howick Local Board have asked Auckland Transport to look into making Bradbury Road safer.
There’s a history of drivers travelling above the speed limit, particularly during morning and afternoon peaks, as Bradbury Road is commonly used as a shortcut to access other main roads in the area.
To improve safety for drivers and the community, we plan to install speed cushions with side islands at five locations.
The changes we're making in 2025
Installing speed cushions and side islands outside number 31, 73, 101, 131 and 159 Bradbury Road. Speed cushions help reduce vehicle speeds whilst minimising the parking loss along Bradbury Road.
Repainting the existing bus stops on Bradbury Road.
Painting new road markings and installing new signage to support the changes. No stopping at all times (broken yellow) lines will be painted at the bus stops except for the 131 Bradbury Road location (which already has them).
Drawings showing the proposed changes are included with this letter.
A total of 20 parking spaces across the entire road corridor will be required to accommodate these changes. We expect these changes will improve road safety for motorists and community.
Project funding
This project is supported by the Howick Local Board and delivered by Auckland Transport on their behalf funded through the Local Board Transport Capital Fund. This fund is used to make improvements based on community priorities, which may not be covered by other programmes of work. How to contact us
