About the project
As part of the Kaipātiki Local Board Capital Transport fund, we’re upgrading and improving bus connections in your area near #270 & #247 Beach Haven Road, including a new bus shelter adjacent to #285.
The changes we're making by 2025
- Relocate and upgrade the bus stop facilities near #270 & #247 Beach Haven Road.
- The eastbound bus stop #4204 currently on 270 Beach Haven Road will be moved 30 meters east opposite 285 Beach Haven Road. A new Bus shelter will also be provided.
- The westbound bus stop #4075 currently at 285 Beach Haven Road will be shifted west 40 meters opposite 270 Beach Haven Road.
- The bus stop pair (Bus Stop #4204 & #4075) will be moved in a tail-to-tail arrangement to provide safety benefits and to accommodate a future crossing.
- Install a new bus shelter at Stop #4204 opposite to #285 Beach Haven Road
- Install new signs and clear road markings to ensure easy access and safe operation.
- Paint “No stopping” lines at each site to improve visibility for both buses and motorists and lead in and lead out markings to allow smooth bus entry and exit. This also makes it easier for people to get on and off the bus, including our customers with strollers and those who need extra help getting around.
- Install tactile pavers at each stop, which are yellow guidance markers to help visually impaired passengers find their way safely.
- We will need to clear access, visibility and improve safety by reallocating road space which will remove some parking spaces, but this has been kept to a minimum.
