Airfield Road, Porchester Road roundabout pedestrian improvements
More safety works are on the way
We have more safety improvements to do at the Airfield Road, Porchester Road roundabout.
We recently completed works at the roundabout but now need to install a new refuge island, signage and paint new road markings.
To support these changes, additional broken yellow lines (no stopping at all times) are proposed to improve access and safety at the roundabout.
These further works will be done at the same time as the utility service works.
What we’re planning:
• Install broken yellow lines on the north-eastern corner of the roundabout between the island and property #60. This would require removal of 2 car parking spaces.
• Connect the broken yellow lines on south-eastern corner of the roundabout.
Please refer to the drawing to see where the proposed changes will apply.

How this benefits your community
The changes would create a safer environment for everyone as they would:
• Make it easier for drivers to see people waiting to cross the road.
• Improve access at the roundabout to prevent vehicles parking closer to the island.
Please refer to the drawing in the side bar to see where the changes will apply
Work done so far
The majority of work at the roundabout were done at the same time as the utility service works to minimize construction disruption. This included:
• Improvements to the central island and a new mountable apron to allow for heavy vehicle tracking and to encourage slower speeds.
• Removal of the speed table on the Airfield Rd eastern approach.
• Relocated the pram ramps for the zebra crossing on Airfield Road to accommodate the new refuge island.
