New 902 bus service to use Kyle Road and Orwell Road
About the project
We are planning to introduce a new regular public bus service for the western part of Kyle Road and Orwell Road in Greenhithe from April 2025.
What we are planning
We're planning to introduce a new bus service, the 902, in April 2025.
The 902 will run between the western part of Kyle Road, Orwell Road and Constellation Station.
Buses will run from around 5:45am until around 11pm, seven days a week. Buses will run every 30 minutes until at least 9pm; buses may run less often after 9pm.
We plan to add a total of three or four new bus stops to the western part of Kyle Road and Orwell Road. These will be the subject of a separate public consultation.
902 bus route
Why we are planning this
Following customer feedback, we're changing the 120 bus route (Henderson, Westgate and Constellation Station). From April 2025, the 120 bus service will use State Highway 18 between Greenhithe and Constellation Station, instead of Greenhithe Road, Upper Harbour Drive, Albany Highway or Sunset Road. We're planning to introduce the 902 bus service to ensure these roads are still served by buses.
Extending the 902 route to include the western part of Kyle Road and Orwell Road means more people will be within easy walking distance of the service, including those living around the eastern part of Kyle Road, on the other side of the reserve.
The Kyle Road / Pitoitoi Avenue / Huntington Park Drive roundabout will be a safe place for buses to turn around. We have completed a safety audit and confirm that the western part of Kyle Road, Orwell Road, and the roundabout are safe to be used by buses.
What happens next
Public feedback on the planned 902 route closed on Friday 15 November 2024. We are now reviewing the feedback we received.
Public consultation regarding any new bus stops will take place later in 2024.
We plan for the 902 bus service to start running in April 2025.
