Improving road safety & visibility near near 62 Beach Road in Castor Bay.
Project Update :
In September 2024, we informed the community about our plans to paint broken yellow lines near 62 Beach Road in Castor Bay.
This work was initially scheduled for November 2024. However, due to some internal process delays, we were unable to commence the work as planned.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding and patience. We are now pleased to inform you that the work has been rescheduled and is planned to take place between December 2024 and January 2025.
About the project
Beach Road is a curvy narrow road and cars parked on both sides of the road are pushing drivers over the centre line, causing serious safety risks. It also creates visibility issues for residents to safely move their vehicles in and out of their driveway.
We received a request from the community to improve visibility and safety issues near 62 Beach Road in Castor Bay.
The changes we’re making by November 2024.
• No stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) will be extended from 62 Beach Road to 56 Beach Road.
A drawing on the right hand side shows where the broken yellow lines will be installed.
Benefits to your community
• Clears and ensures ease of access for all vehicles along the curvy corners of Beach Road, including services like waste removal and emergency services.
• Improves visibility for drivers to see oncoming cars, people walking, cycling and crossing the road, making it safer, particularly for tamariki (children).
In good weather conditions, it will take one day to paint the broken yellow lines. We know this may cause an inconvenience, and we’ve tried to minimise this as much as possible.
We remind all drivers to park correctly and avoid blocking driveways. Vehicles parked illegally may receive infringement notices or be towed away.
