About the project
New Crossing Facility at 36 Taylors Road!
We are working with Auckland Transport and the Albert-Eden Local Board to install a pedestrian crossing outside 36 Taylors Road.
This location is close to the rear entrance of Mt Albert Primary School and kindergarten. Currently there is no formal pedestrian crossing yet a recent survey shows many children and parents already use this point to cross the road.
Installing a pedestrian crossing here will make it easier and safer by providing a shorter crossing distance and improve driver visibility of people crossing the road.
What we’re planning to do before June 2026
Install a pedestrian crossing near the rear entrance of Mt Albert Primary School
Install a school crossing patrol system for peak times before and after school.
Add side islands to narrow lane widths and slow drivers approaching the crossing
Add a footpath and pram crossing leading to the new pedestrian crossing
Improve streetlighting and line marking to support the crossing
Removing nine street parking spaces along Taylors Road to increase visibility for pedestrians and drivers
These upgrades will make Taylor’s Road Provide a safer to cross, especially for school children and the wider community. It will also help slow down drivers and improve visibility of people crossing the road
What happens next
We want to hear your feedback on:
Any specific local knowledge, operational issues or suggestions that may help to refine the proposed design
Contact us via email engagementfeedback@johnstaff.co.nz - use "Taylors Road" in the subject line
or call us on 093553553
We would love to hear your feedback up until 15 December
