Improving safety for pedestrians and drivers

Update: project proceeding

We are proceeding with upgrading the existing pedestrian crossing into a pedestrian refuge crossing.

Next steps: construction is planned for the first half of 2026.

The updated design includes:

  • Upgrading the existing crossing outside #33 Tripoli Road to a crossing with a pedestrian refuge
  • Installing new broken yellow lines (no stopping at all times) outside numbers 29, 35A, 32, 34 and 20-26 Tripoli Road
  • Installing new broken yellow lines (no stopping at all times) outside number 44 Stewart Avenue
  • Painting a new flush median on Tripoli Road
  • Pruning the tree outside #33 Tripoli so it does not hang over the footpath where people are crossing the road, plus improve lighting at night
