3 Niall Burgess Road, Mt Wellington - Road safety improvements
Consultation Outcome
We want to thank the community, businesses and everyone who shared their thoughts and feedback on our proposal to improve road safety in the neighbourhood of 3 Niall Burgess Road.
After carefully considering all the feedback, we are proceeding with the proposal with a minor change.
What’s changing?
Original design impact:
- The initial plan proposed removing three kerbside parking spaces to improve visibility and pedestrian safety.
Updated design:
- Parking adjustment: Only two kerbside spaces will be removed. One will remain.
The following features from the original plan remain unchanged:
At 3 Niall Burgess Road:
- Extend the broken yellow lines (no-stopping-at -all-times) between the two gates of 3 Niall Burgess property
- Reduce the length of the existing “Bus Stop” marking area to meet our current bus stop design requirements.
About the project
We’re making small but important changes to improve road safety in your neighbourhood.
These updates aim to improve visibility for vehicles exiting 3 Niall Burgess Road and support safer movement for all road users. This includes extending broken yellow lines, adjusting the bus stop marking, and updating parking near the Electrolux office.
These changes will improve visibility, support safer vehicle movements, and help buses manoeuvre more easily.
Why we’re making these changes
To prevent vehicles from parking too close to the gates and maintain clear access for safer vehicle movements and improve road safety.
We will be adjusting the length of the existing bus stop marking to align with current design standards and to allow a 15-metre lead-out space, helping buses leave the stop safely and efficiently.
What’s Changing
- At 3 Niall Burgess Road:
Extend the broken yellow lines (no-stopping-at -all-times) between the two gates. - Adjust the length of the “Bus Stop” marking area to meet updated design requirements.
- Parking adjustments: As we extend the broken yellow lines to enhance road safety, three parking spaces between the driveways of 3 Niall Burgess Road will be removed and two will be retained.

What happens next
We plan to complete these changes by March 2026.
Painting the broken yellow lines will take around one day, depending on weather conditions.
