What happens next

We anticipate these changes will be installed between March and April 2026.

In good weather conditions, it will take one day to paint the broken yellow lines.

Community Feedback

Thank you for helping us make better decisions for your neighbourhood, informed by your local knowledge.

We received six submissions on the proposal through the online survey, one via email, and several from hand delivered letters to businesses in the proposed area. None of the submissions indicated any negative impact on the community.

Summary of the feedback count:

  • All seven respondents expressed that the changes would benefit the community.
  • Five respondents provided suggestions to further improve the proposal.

These are some of supportive comments:

  • Make it much safer to pull out of driveway. / Making it safer turning out of our driveway - It is very dangerous to turn right out of the driveway as the visibility is blocked by parked cars. There were previously yellow lines here that have worn away. I have had multiple near miss accidents in this driveway. The driveway is used for multiple businesses for clients and staff.
  • It will minimise the risk/ accident of the cars that come up on the driveway.
  • Safer to exit the driveway into opposing traffic.

Below is a summary of your suggestions and our responses.

Suggestions to improve the project

No stopping at all times (broken yellow lines)

  • Suggest yellow lines, no parking on main road. Cars parked there obstructing our view when trying to leave driveway
  • Suggest yellow lines on the left

Our Response: The current proposal aims to prevent any type of vehicle from parking next to the driveway, as this can block visibility for road users entering and exiting the driveway.

At this stage, removing additional parking is not considered necessary. We need to balance the parking needs of visitors and businesses with maintaining safe and reasonable access to our roads.

  • Suggest yellow lines on both sides of the driveway

Our Response: Driveways do not require broken yellow lines as it is already illegal to block access. The current proposal aims to improve access from the main road.

  • Install a no parking sign to prevent vehicles from parking over the driveway.

Our Response: The current proposal aims to prevent any type of vehicle park next to the driveway blocking visibility for road users entering and exiting the driveway.

Remove two parking spaces and the Clearway 7-10am signage – The clearway sign has caused confusion; many people assume it means parking is allowed before 7am.

Our Response: At this stage, removing additional parking is not considered necessary.

We need to balance the parking needs of visitors and businesses with maintaining reasonable access to our roads.

The 7am–10am Clearway restriction provides a significant improvement for northbound traffic during morning peak times, so its removal is not justified at this stage.

Add restricted parking hours signage

Our Response: After reviewing the current situation, changes to the existing parking time restrictions are not considered necessary at this stage.

About the project

We’re proposing changes to 293 Dominion Road to improve the safe operation of the road and the commercial driveway.

Local businesses have raised concerns about reduced visibility for vehicles exiting the commercial driveway between 287 and 293 Dominion Road. Parked cars too close to driveways make it harder for drivers to see oncoming traffic.

Dominion Road is an arterial route with heavy traffic, and the nearby building layout makes the driveway difficult to spot when traveling north.

To address this, we are proposing installing no stopping at all times (broken yellow lines) outside 293 Dominion Road.
